gtx 760 pcie 3.0 on pcie 2.0 slot

if i put gtx 760 on pcie 2.0 slot will i lose anything . i asked a someone from a shop and he told me i will have 10-15%performance decrease if i use a 3.0gpu on a pcie 2.0 he did specify high end or mid gpus

there will be no potential threat.
But your gpu will run at 2.0 generation bus speed which is obviously slower than 3.0

What mobo do you use?
it seems it dosent have a 3.0 slot?

asus crosshair v formula it have pcie 2.0 and amd 8150 cpu

windows 7 64bit on a pcie 2.0 vs windows 8 64bit on a pcie 3.0 will be about a 2-3% difference at best. this test has been done many times. its negligible and 3% will not make or break a gaming experience.

many many people are running p67/z68 mobos that have 2.0 pcie and running sli/cf even at 8x lane speed without much slowdown.

If you are not in the market to buy a new cpu then there is no point in changing mobos for the pcie 3.0, just put that money into a stronger gpu
