So i made a bad decision and bought the 4gb version of the EVGA GTX 760. My question, however, is related to it's placement on my GIGABYTE X79-UP4 mobo. I have it in the top slot right below the cpu. Now the question is why does it not register as being in the pci-e 3.0 bus? According to HWINFO x64 bit: PCIe v2.0 x16 (5.0 Gb/s) @ x16 (5.0 Gb/s)

I loaded up the BF4 test range with HWINFO on to see if maybe it just uses 3.0 when it needs to but there was no change. Any help or advice would be appreciated. I really hope it's a bus placement issue and not that the card can't handle 3.0.

I may not even know that what i'm saying is right, so please help :D

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried using a different slot? Or a different program, like GPU-Z? Many times it is the program reporting the wrong information.

Anyway, you aren't going to see a difference between PCI-E 2.0 and 3.0. PCI-E 2.0 x16 is more than fast enough and isn't going to cause a performance hit.

Well according to the mobo documentation all 4 of its pcie slots are 3.0 @ 100 mhz which only downgrade to x8 when used with triple sli. I'm going to try gpu-z and see what it says. As far as performance hit that's good to know. I fully intend to buy a new 900 series GTX but until then this will suffice. Thanks for the quick reply good sir.

What processor do you have? Sandy Bridge doesn't support PCI-E 3.0.
