I like to think i have a fairly high end system and everything has been great but..... I have been playing GTA V since the release and it has been beautiful and fps has locked in at 60 fps (with vsync on) until last night (4-22-15). I took a hour long break from playing gta(left computer on but exited game) and when i got back and started up gta it began lagging everywhere. The Rockstar intro, the menu, in game was even worse. Whenever i was driving or i would pan the camera around my player it freezes for around 0.1-0.2 seconds, super noticeable and easily the most annoying thing ever. It was weird because just an hour earlier the game was running perfect with zero problems. Still doing this today (4-23-15) and I've asked all my computerish type friends and none of them have anything to say. Reply as soon as possible if you know what i can do to fix this! Please any help is reccomended.

1) Have you restarted your workstation?
2) Have you taken a look at your computer "event viewer" to look for any kind of driver crashes.
3) Try monitoring temperatures with CPU ID HWmonitor, and report back your max CPU / GPU temps.
4) Try turning OFF Vsync, and dropping some of the settings to your games graphics down.

I have restarted my computer 3 times over the past 2 days and nothing. GPU temp ~46C and CPU ~30C

Even after restarting multiple times still plays terribly.

I reinstalled the nvidia drivers and still not working. Reinstalling the game is my last option as it is over 60 GB's. Im around 99% sure its a GPU problem.

I was able to fix this by taking out my graphics card, power supply and fans and using a can of compressed air to remove all the built up dust and particles and when returning to the game it ran perfectly again.....
