I was wondering if it can, because if not im not spending the extra money for 4 gb cards. I will stay with 1080p then.

Solution
well, it could probly run games on good settings at 4k, but it is totally not worth it (in my opinion) your eyes cant see much of a difference between 1080p and 4k, so i would get either a 1080p or 1440p monitor and the 2gb cards.

4K gaming makes no sense.
You get almost exactly HALF the refresh rate as 1440p and it looks almost exactly the same.

However, I do recommend more than 2GB of VRAM when spending about $650 on graphics (2x$320 roughly) for future proofing, and possibly MODS (i.e. Skyrim).

Watch Dogs has issues that are being sorted out but it is an indicator that more VRAM may be needed in the near future. Hard to say exactly when though.

*I strongly recommend a GTX780Ti for that budget. I still recommend a single card than two of them even if they can get slightly better performance in most games.

4K vs 1440p vs 1080p:

I personally have a 1440p (2560x1440) monitor. I game mostly at 1080p (GTX680/i7), but there are several games that look far better at 2560x1440 such as: CIV5, Starcraft 2, Diablo 3 etc (mostly top-down "god" games).

My general rule is I play at 2560x1440 if I can play at max/near-max and maintain 60FPS.

4K: I have no problem with these monitors other than the price and possibly some issues with certain models (i.e. response time, 30Hz only at 4K etc.) I just don't see the price benefit. There's also the issue of whether to get IPS or not.

I prefer IPS but many gamers do not. Regardless, you can get a nice 2560x1440 panel for about $500. That's still a lot of money but I could never go back to 1920x1080 at 22".

I just looked into, getting the 780 ti only to be disappointed the sli 770s have 170% power over then (100%) 780 ti, im not sure if this is correct but most sites say that 770s are better but i could future proof by getting 1 780ti and get one later.

Your numbers are incorrect.
It is approximately 20% difference though this VARIES quite a lot. I wish I had a complete list of games in the last several years to show which ones supported SLI, the performance difference, and which ones run SMOOTHER on the single card.

Noise is another issue as well if that bothers you.

There isn't really a WRONG answer, it's more about the Pros and Cons, though the 2GB of the GTX770 setup concerns me if you plan to keep the system for several years. It's still 2GB effectively in SLI.

4GB 770's cost about $400 for cards that are reasonable quality so that would be $100 more than the GTX780Ti ($800 vs $700 USD) which basically kills the value advantage of the 770's for frame rate (depending on the games you average).
