GTX 770 overclocking issues

Hullo there,

I'm currently in the process of overclocking my GTX 770 which I've just bought and installed.

I've so far achieved a stable +100MHz core and +350MHz memory overclock, getting me a score of 2076 in the Unigine Valley benchmark, compared to the 1896 that I got on stock clocks (1072MHz core and 7000MHz memory + GPU boost).

The issue now is, when I attempt to go any higher with the core clock, my screen goes black for 2-3 seconds during my benchmarking and when it comes back on, MSI Afterburner indicates that the card has gone back to stock clocks.

The card doesn't seem to hit the max temperature of 85 degrees that I've set (it stop ramping up at about 82), neither does it get to max fan speeds (usually stays at 93% of max fan speed).

Does this mean I've hit my card's max stable overclock ? Or can I do something to unblock the situation and go further ?

As said, the overclocking software I use is MSI Afterburner, and the benchmark tool I use is Unigine Valley, on the Extreme (maximum) preset.

Thanks in advance,
Owen.

EDIT: In any heavy game, as with the Valley benchmark, if I overclock the core anymore than 100MHz, the same will happen after about 3 mins of 100% load: black screen and back to default clocks.

No, you've pretty much hit an OCing wall. I would'nt try to bypass this as the program is trying to prevent further damage. You could try upping the voltage but that isn't very safe for GPUs.
