GTX 770 psu problem

My psu has one "double sided" PCI-E cable, both sides have 6+2 pin connectors. My graphics card needs an 8 pin and 6 pin connection. Do I just connect both sides of the same cable to the graphics card and ignore one of the +2 pins?

Yeah you leave one of them hanging around.

You plug one 6 pin and one 6+2 into the GPU then you're fine.

Yes that is normal for the setup you have , I have 2 - 770's that's how both of mine are .

Not sure what you mean here. You should connect one side to PSU of course and the other one to GPU. You need to do the same thing with second 6+2/8-pin cable, extra 2 pins dont have to be connected to 6-pin socket but all 8 pins(6+2) have to be connected to 8-pin socket.

edit: you probably meant you have to 6+2 connectors on one end of the cable, silly me
