Getting a new PC with Z87 MSI Gaming motherboard. It includes a VGA boost utility that should 'boost MSI graphic card' somehow.
Do I need to have MSI graphic card for it or will any do?

Mainly: MSI 770 Gaming & 770 Lightning... what are the differences? (I know L is faster, but can't the G be overclocked to be the same?)

Ignore the boost thing you have as though it doesn't exist, its just there to sell the board and doesn't actually do anything.

The Lightning cards are usually binned a bit higher (for more overclocking), other than that, not much. That said, the Gigabyte and Asus cards are better, I'd look at those if I were you, cooler and quieter.
