So... Buy 7970 and overclock it? How's that?
Heat wise, it'll run much hotter. It wont be very quiet compared to the Nvidia cards. Also, it'll have much more power consumption.
Uh, what? Seriously? You're just putting up claims without any information to back it up. It's these posts I usually don't consider trustworthy.

You know what's fun? When a new GPU launches and every thread asking for help devolves into a debate over the new card instead of an attempt to help the OP.
OP, to answer your question, you will need to tell us what games you want to play, what your CPU and power supply are, and what resolution you play at. The general answer is to buy whichever is cheaper, but depending on the above info that may tilt you one way or another.
You see, I don't have all of the parts yet, so I'm currently running a dual core cpu, E6500 to be specific. I decided to wait up on Haswell to see how it performs so I still can't say for sure what my parts are. Although I have purchased some components. (cooler, ssd, hdd, case, ram). I play on 1920x1080 but I'm a general gamer, I don't have preferences on games. It can vary from playing a lousy old game with ''ancient'' graphics to a high resolution, power-hungry game with state-of-art technology.
But here are some games I will definitely try: Metro: Last Light, Crysis 3, Far Cry 3, Battlefield 3 (and 4 when it is released), BioShock Infinite, Skryrim, Tomb Raider, Assassin's creed, Call of Duty, Grid 2, etc.
