Hi there,

Recently I built I seriously budget gaming PC with second hand parts. All has gone well, except that my gtx 770 makes mild whining noises when playing some games. I haven't run big titles just yet because we currently have an Internet issue and can't download them, but I ran halo ce which I had on a memory stick just for fun. Some mild coil whine ensued. Is this normal, and to do with the undoubtedly high framerates it produces? Some threads I've read say it can signal an issue with caps but others say it's harmless. Any thoughts? Do any of you guys have similar sounds coming from your 770?

Cheers for the reply. I found it only makes noises, and pretty quiet ones at that, when playing halo ce for some reason. I ran all the other games I have currently (cod 2, guts and glory, ravenfield, eldewrito) and couldn't hear any noises at any point coming from the game. The only other time I heard it was for a few seconds after I exited heaven benchmark but other than that nothing. I know it won't cause catastrophic failure, but is it likely to be a indicator of premature wear? Is it enough to warrant contacting the Seller?

Many thanks. I don't care how it sounds, hence I still have the nasty loud fans that came with my case
