Building a gaming desktop in september. Everything is set and now I'm considering the two video cards

I was initially going to get the 780ti, but now I'm reading things that suggest games will start to need much more vram soon, even at 1080p (which is what I plan to game at).
Please give any input on this because I dont want to drop the cash on a 780ti and then it be restricted by vram in a few years.
