Hello people,

I'm building a computer for the first time and could use some help :)

For graphics card can I get the pros/cons between the two. If you think a different model is better please suggest :)

ASUS GTX 780 DirectCU II and EVGA GTX 780 Superclocked with ACX.
________________________________________________________________
For the motherboard I was thinking of one of the following, again feel free to mention something else :):

ASUS Z87-PLUS LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

GIGABYTE GA-Z87X-UD3H LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

ASRock Z87E-ITX LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Mini ITX Intel Motherboard

MSI Z87-G45 Gaming LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Pro Gaming with Killer Networking & Sound Blaster Intel Motherboard

One of the ASUS ROG motherboards
_________________________________________________________________
The CPU that I'll be getting is the i7-4770k
_________________________________________________________________
Would it be better get a 850W, 750W, 600W psu? Currently I'm leaning towards the 750W but am not a 100% sure
________________________________________________________________
Also I'm not sure which tower size I should go with. I'd much prefer a mid tower, but I think I might need a full.

I was thinking of getting the corsair 600T since it seems to be a bigger mid tower.
Any suggestions?

Thank You

Hi,

The Best GTX 780 is the Gainward Phantom GTX 780 GLH

if you live in europe or Asia you can get it , if in USA forget it .

Next comes the MSI N780 TF 3GD5/OC Twin Frozr Gaming

cons and pros ? it is all about the cooler actually and how good they are and how noisy they become ... and ow much cooler they can run the card.

next comes the Asus ...

you can check for reviews online for detailed information.

----------------------------

The best mother board IMO around and cheap is the Gigabyte Sniper M5 , it is full of features and it is MAtx meaning it is 2 slots less , but it has super sound on it and killer lan and performs very well and overclocks well.

you can see it here :

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4482#ov

and it took 10/10 in tests

http://www.overclock3d.net/reviews/cpu_mainboard/gigabyte_g1_sniper_m5_review_z87_1150_haswell/18

and it is only 199$ ..

if you want full atx , get the Asus Hero one . but this one here is better

------------------------------------

If you intend to add another card in SLI later , get 850 WATTS power supply and choose a gold one and full modular its better.

if you dont plan to do it , 650 Watts is enough for you.

-----------------------------------

If you want to SLI get a good cooled tower like the Haf XM

if you dont want to SLI , you can get a mid or mini tower ... one of the best makers are corsair and Nzxt .. and cooler master

thats all and have fun

Hi thanks for the response :)

I'm a bit confused on the MSI being better then the ASUS and EVGA. I was reading a comparison and it gave MSI a lower "ranking" (I say in quotes because it doesn't directly say that ASUS and EVGA are better), I mean obviously the article could be completely bias and what not I'm just making sure before I buy one to make sure I'm getting the most bang for my buck 😀

Well. Evga has their new ACX cooling. It means they have better bearings in the fans of the card. and meanwhile Asus. has their 8mm heatpipes which move the heat away from the cards. and they also backplated their cards. MSI Lighthing has their new Twin Frozr Cooling which evolves new and improved cooling. and they have that "reactor" thing.

Watch this video from NCIX and Watch Linus compare this card. Though this is the 770 comparison.
But less difference with 780 (Except on Lightning) but none the less pretty much the same.

For the Mobo. Gamer's perspective? or Multi-tasker?

Well you can get the ASUS Z87-Pro. Which has Wifi and some stuff.

But for a gamer. A Gaming Motherboard is needed.

A Gaming Motherboard must consists.

-Good Onboard Audio.
Asus Maximus VI Hero has the Supreme FX Audio.
MSI Z87-G45 Gaming has the SoundBlaster Cinema.
Gigabyte Z87-UD3H - I think the Audio Amplier (Correct me if im wrong)
-Good Net Port.
Asus M6 Hero and Gigabyte UD3H got the Intel Lan
MSI G45 Gaming has the KILLERLAG.

- Extra Features.
Asus M6 Hero has alot features like the CPU-Z ROG, Anti Virus, Daemon Tools PRO, Etc.

FOR THE CPU

If Gaming only purposes get the 4670K but 4770k is also good for extra tasks like rendering and stuff.

PSU

If you're going SLI in the Future. Get a 750W PSU. if not go with a 550W.
*NOTE: with 80+ Bronze Certification (recommended)

AND GET THE BEST PSU BRAND. (DONT YOU THERE SKIMP IT. IT WILL FRY YOU'RE PC IF YOU BOUGHT A CHEAP ONE)

Recommend Brands.
Seasonic (BEST PSU MAKERS. THEY MADE SOME PSUS FOR CORSAIR, XFX AND ETC.)
Corsair (AX Series [Best One], HX, TX)
XFX Pro Series
Silverstone Strider
Antec HCP

FOR THE CASE.

Corsair 600T is good.

Check some other brands also. Just watch reviews on different cases on youtube.
I really recommend Fractal Design for their Modular Cages and Simple and Sleek Design

Next to that is NZXT. Who bought Modularity to cases
Notable Cases from them is the Phantom 630 and Switch 810.

Some brands:

Fractal Design
NZXT
Corsair
Cooler Master

Thanks for all that great info!
For the PSU I'm leaning towards these

Oh and i forgot. A Modular PSU is better than non modular. even though it cost more.
Pick the Seasonic 750W. You can SLI cards with PSU. 😀

Glad i helped. And the EVGA is the best card in those three in my opinion. But i dont see new on ASUS
cooling potential. EVGA and MSI has new cooling. But EVGA GTX 780 SC has better clock speed and boost.
just add a 10$ though to get the SC one. And EVGA has 3 year warranty.

Wow super quick reply :)

so with the EVGA SC ACX which mother board would work well?
You told me should get one of the gaming ones so I'm right now I'm deciding between the
M5 Sniper
MSI Z87-GD65
ASUS Maximus VI Hero
ASUS Maximus VI Gene

Is there any benefit to getting one over the other for the EVGA, I know for the MSI and ASUS I was planning on getting its respective motherboard but unsure about the EVGA.

Again thanks a bunch for your fast replies :)

For the mobo. If you want mATX size get the Gene. But if you want ATX Form Factor. ASUS Maximus VI Hero is good enough with alot of extra features.

and the GPU. any of those three cards. But Evga has recommended alot and their ACX Cooler is worth to buy it. and I think Asus and MSI Lightning would be expensive on that point. So EVGA is worth it.
Those cards can destroy alot of games on ULTRA. and EVGA GTX 780 SC price is on 659$.
And i think MSI and Asus price are higher than that. Well its your choice though

Gigabyte Sniper M5 is better than the Gene ...

hehe 😀 arrives tomorrow!!! Now to figure out the dang motherboard...

mATX or ATX?
I am unsure of which to get. I'm leaning towards mATX due to the fact I want a mid tower. Would M5 be my best bet for mATX?

yes it is MATX and it is the best mATX in the market. and it is even better than all ATX mobos at the same price range :)

Eh I'll most likely go with the M5, the only that was holding me back was the color scheme 😛. I'll just have to make it work.

Do you think I should still get the Corsair 600t with that board? Don't want huge color scheme issues. Was thinking that I should add green led fans with it? What do you think?

If you want to go small , get this case it is FANTASTIC and bes Ive seen in cooling for Matx

Corsair Obsidian 350D

http://www.corsair.com/en/pc-cases/obsidian-series-pc-case/obsidian-series-350d-windowed-micro-atx-pc-case.html

and it looks very nice , there is a non window version i think too.

If you like Cases with Doors the Fractal Design Define Mini is a good case as well.

http://www.fractal-design.com/?view=product&prod=58

is a silent case with noise Dampning materials ...

but I like the Corsair more :)

I'm liking the Obsidian. The window is nice 😀 and its cheaper then the 600t. I just wish the picture they put wasn't red and black color scheme haha >.< Thanks a bunch for your help :) Any good advice on keeping the thing properly cooled without using liquid cooling?

Oh I forgot to add the Obsidian will hold the 780 properly right? That was my main reason for looking at the 600t was because I kept reading that the 780 is really big.

it can get any cards :)

Thanks a bunch for that quick reply!!!

if you want the best air cooler , and your case takes maks 160 hight cooler so here are your best options (6 heat pipes) :

1- Noctua NH-D14

5- Silverstone AR03 (lowest of them :) ) but still 6 heatpipes :

ar03-1fan-34.jpg

those are 6 heat pipes that fit in your 160 hight limitation :)

the water cooling is also good if you choose so.

the watercooling looks cleaner and shows the motherboard ...

You forgot phanteks. They have reputable air cooler also
