gtx 780 ideal resolution

I have a gtx 780, i7 4790k and 16gb ram.  I have been looking at the Asus rog swift pg278q 1440p monitor.  What I'm having trouble with is, with my setup will I be able to play games on ultra in 1440p with a good fps or should I get a 1080p monitor.  I'd be looking to play things like battlefield, dayz and a number of rpg's.  Please help

1440 is do-able but with mods come reduced framerates. I would suggest 1080 or a gtx980

Thanks. I don't want to go buy a 1440p monitor if I'm gonna find myself playing on medium settings just to get good fps if the game will look better in ultra in 1080p. What do you think
