GTX 780, my i7 2700 really can't handle it?

Alright thought I would fire this one at the GPU guys as well, I initially posted this on the CPU forums, but maybe even you guys could give me some insight here;

Ok guys, so I have a gtx 780, and it is simply not performing up to benchmark levels and I mean pretty damn significantly. I am getting 79 minimum fps in battlefield 3, the benchmarks you see are getting like 90 minimum.

So there are a couple of things that I have on my mind so I will just fire them away in bullet points but first and foremost here is my set up;

. i7-2700k cpu
. Asus p8z68-v pro gen 3 mobo (this is a pcie 3.0 mobo, my cpu downgrades it to 2.0)
. Corsair 750w enthusiast series psu
. 16gb of corsair vengance ram

Now, I can not see how it can be ANYTHING other than my cpu that is responsible for this FPS crisis lol, other than my GPU somehow being a 'funny one' but I do not think this would be the case, right?

Anyway so what I want to throw at you cpu/gpu guys is which of these processors are better, and why? If you want to get really fancy telling me why they are better than my i7-2700k would be even more obliged.

This matters because I use a 144hz monitor and I do want to reap the benefits of it while still playing with badass graphics. And I strictly game in 1920x1080p, the question is which of these cpu's will get me the best raw fps in games.

I'd love some feedback chaps, Chris. - I do not mean to be lazy by posting this here, it is just I can not read cpu's if y'know what I mean, and you guys seem to give the most appropriate direct answers rather than spending hours reading articles and wotnot.

Are you using the same settings as the benches? Benchmarks rarely max out EVERYTHING and that causes confusion for most people.

By the way, we have a tagging system so double posting can be avoided, but no matter.

2nd gen i7 should be running even titan or 7990 on their edge. I doubt you are bottlenecked by cpu.

Maybe, but what else could it be? As for the benchmarks, the videos I watched were people using the card when it first came out with the beta drivers.

Usually benchmarks are done with cherry picked parts (which usually perform better than its whole family) or they are tested so many times to produce the best outcome, which you dont/cant do it at home. (unless you are lucky)

To be honest 79FPS seems to be normal to me. Have you tried turning off VSYNC? you may be limiting the gpu yourself.

Try running Unigine Heaven and Valley bench's to compare your results with other people too. It may give you some more idea.

Again, confirm the settings in benchmark and yours are the same. Also, youtube should not be trusted.

I will give you some personal experience. After I OC'd my i7 930 for my gtx 680, I saw some 30% increase. I too, thought my cpu could handle it and had multiple people agreeing with me, but it wasn't true. We are using different hardware so take it with a grain of salt.
