GTX 780, or wait until 800 series?

Okay, so basically, I need help in regards to which graphics card I should buy. My price range is $500 max, and I don't plan on waiting that long to buy a graphics card. The longest amount of time I'll wait, is until the 800 series GPU's are released, maybe a month or so afterwards if i'm feeling patient enough. So here are three options I could go through with (unless you have something else in mind, if so, feel free to mention it)...

1) Get the GTX 780 now.

2) Wait until the 800 series of GPU's are released, and just buy one of them.

3) Wait until the 800 series is released, and get the GTX 780, assuming the price for it may have dropped by then.

The AMD R9 290 GPU is a better pick instead of the GTX 780 because its cheaper and has better performance.

As for if you want to buy now or later, from what I have heard, the next series of GPUs aren't going to increase performance very much. Both AMD and Nvidia are looking to lower the power consumption of their cards and rumors and possible engineering samples of next generation cards that have been seen aren't anything really faster than current generation cards but use much less power. I might be wrong and they might do otherwise but it seems if your biggest concern is performance you are best to go for an R9 290 right now unless you see a heavily discounted GTX 780.

Honestly, I wouldn't encourage you to wait on the 800 series as it might not be released this year and that is way past your patience level. People will tell you that it will be released x time, but honestly they are just assuming---- I have seen so many of the dates that were assumed previously , passed and there has been no release as yet. The thing is that Nvidia will release that card when they themselves are comfortable to release it and that, we don't know as yet.
So waiting could be difficult. The $500 budget you have there is quite a substantial budget that can get you a great graphics card at the moment. The 800 series I think won't influence much of a drop in the prices of the 780's etc as these cards have been doing well in performance and most likely will still be attracting lots of demand.. And you know , based on the laws of demands as well as ''common sense'', a high demand, means high price..
So with all that been said.. I recommend that you go for the 780.. Which of the 780's for your budget?
