I am looking for the best 780 for overclocking, I am looking for a card that can hit atleast 1300mhz core and be extremely stable. I am leaning toward the lightning since it matches my motherboard. Would I have a better chance of 1300mhz with a lightning or a classified. I don't care about the ram but I am aware the eplida is junk and the hynix/samsung in the classified can do well over 7ghz. From what I can find 6400mhz vs 7.2ghz is like 2-3% fps difference.

I do not want a 290x, I am never buying AMD again after my experience with their 7900 series and their disappointing cpus unless they make some major changes.

I am eventually planning on using these for 1440p or 4k and will be buying a 2nd 780. I am also planning on eventually water cooling them.

Specs:
CPU: i5 4670k cooled by an h100 @ 4.5ghz
Mobo: MSI MPower Max
Case: Thermaltake MK-1 Chaser
Power Supply: Corsair AX750 (will upgrade before sli)
Ram: 16gb Gskill Ripjaws X cas 9 1866

Strange the 7900 series put out some of the best video cards of all time! Anyway your best chance of 1300mhz is a PCB that has the best power delivery but really its a chip lottery. The MSI Lightning has the best chance followed by the EVGA Classified model. Tweak Bios can unlock more voltage if needed!

The card was good I just recently sold it, it did 650 khash/s at 75c. It was an iceq blower fan version flashed to x2 bios. The software was the problem, it has improved drastically recently but all the issues I had were non existent on my friends 700 series cards. Unstable fps and stutter was my main problem. I have a 2ms 1080p montitor and put my friends 770 in to test the difference and the smoothness between the 7950 at 60fps and 770 at 60fps finally pushed me to upgrade.

Hands down the EVGA GTX 780 Classified is the best Overclocking 780 there is
after that you have the MSI GTX 780 lightning
As you can go see for your salf 3DMark hall of fame / HWbot 98% the top 780s are Classified cards
the other 2% are lightings and HOF 780s

but i will tell you this if you are not a hard core bencher get a refernce EVGA GTX 780
and you can unlock it and over volt it like that you can get classified/lightning performance for les money
that is what i did and my 2 780s do 1407mhz
