😀 Hey all,

I currently have 2 GTX 780's pushing my gaming visuals and have an unrelenting urge to upgrade to either a GTX 980Ti or a GTX 1080 to round out my system. I currently play more ARMA 3 than anything right now and would be awesome to increase my visuals frames and eye-candy enjoyment.

The question is will I be able to truly see (and appreciate) a difference in my visuals and frames by dropping anywhere from $325 - $525 on a new card? While I want a 1080, is it worth buying a 980Ti for only $200 less than the other? Should I just DEAL with my current card and shift that budgeted cash to another project (separate hobby) and be content until the prices start to slope downward over the next few months to a year? Should I set my sights on a 1070 or just aim high?

On a sheer memory amount I know the 1080 is a better buy, but if I can save money is the 980 Ti a good buy (trending around $317)? Should I go with a 1070 and add another later for SLI? The options are what's making me 2nd guess myself and the amount of money too.

I appreciate any and all genuine comments/facts/opinions on this matter, sometimes a voice of reason can come from a smart @zz comment, but would like to stick to the facts :)

I budgeted about $500 for a card (prefer less but it depends on availability).

Thanks for taking the time to read and reply have an awesome day everyone.

Current build-
Intel i7 4790k @4GHz
2 EVGA GTX 780's in SLI (6GB mem total) have oc'd these but only for benchmarking.
16GB DDR3 RAM
Windows 7 Home
Creative SB ZxR sound cards
1100 Watt PSU EVGA
Samsung EVO 2x250 & 2x500GB SSD's (game drives)
1 Intel 535 Series 240GB SSD (OS and system stuff)
3 WD BE HDD's @ 1TB ea (music/pics/and things we should not speak of)
47" Samsung OLED screen @ 1080p 60hz
(sometimes I use the Geforce digital scaling to 2k just for screenies and stuff. but 1080 is my goto Res at this time)

1080p 60Hz? A single GTX 1070 or 980 Ti ( roughly equal performance ) will overkill that resolution. I'm using a 980 Ti at 1440p and I can max almost every game. The lone exception so far has been Mankind Divided and I only have to reduce a few settings there.

VRAM in SLI is not additive. Unless you have 2 x 6GB cards you effectively have 3GB of VRAM and that's what's limiting you.
