I'm wanting to get a new graphics card. I currently run a Sapphire 7850 with 2gig Vram.
I want to know if the GTX 780 Ti is better than the GTX 970.
From what I've seen it looks like the 970 would run faster. I'm going to be using it for gaming.

I'm pretty sure either would work fine with my system but just in case here's my specs..
CPU: AMD FX:8320 Unlocked
GPU: AMD Radeon 7850 HD Crossfire ready
Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth 990FX
PSU: Thermaltake 750W 80+ Bronze
HDD: Toshiba 1TB
RAM: Kingston HyperX Red 8 GIGS
Case: Thermaltake Commander MS-I ATI-Mid Tower case [Snow Editon]

Please help me!

[Edit 1] I also need to mention that I'm going to be using my Asus 1080p moniter. It's 23" and there's only one. I won't be using dual moniters.

[Edit 2] What brands do you guys like? I've only used Sapphire. IS Asus any good? What about EVGA? Most of the EVGA ones I've seen only have one fan.

What is SLi and CF if you don't mind explaining? I just got into computers about a year ago.
Also I was looking on newegg and other sites and I saw that the core clock was faster on the 970.
Also what is the CUDA cores?

F1reW4ll - SLi is abbreviation for Scalable Link Interface, and CF stands for Cross Fire. It means You run multiple VGA at Your system, resulting in multiple GPUs counting the data. That means if You have good mobo, You can have up to 4 VGAs at one system. Normal is two, some better ones have three.

CUDA cores stands fore Compute Unified Device Architecture cores, which is a hardware unit of nvidias GPUs. Basically, the more cores the more happy You get while playing games and doing GPGPU operations [general-purpose computation on graphics processing units].

So as You can see, You should really hit 970 and maybe get a second one sometimes in the future :)

rolli59 - gpuboss and videocardbenchmark are showing "pure power" of GPUs, their potential, which of course changes with newer drivers. So it's not that bad :)...

Okay! Thanks for answering my questions dude! I think I will get the 970
