GTX 780 VS 7970 Trifire and 3770k VS 4770k

I am building a new gaming PC for my 2560 x 1440 monitor.

If you can afford it, GTX 770 SLI, with i5-4670k.

a single 780 is no match against a xfire'd 7970 in 1440p or even 1080p. not even a single titan can touch it. the only way to match/exceed it is via sli'd 680's/770's and above.

Then just get GTX 780 2-Way SLI, with an i5-4670k. That will give you some crazy performance.

The GTX 780"s will cost me $1320 while the 7970 will cost me $900.

Crossfire doesn't work that while right now, because of the drivers. Crossfire with 3 cards is much worse. 2-way SLI works pretty good right now. So you can pay $1320 and see crazy performance, or pay $900 and be disappointed.
The other possibility, if you're a bit short on money would be to go GTX 770 2-Way sli, which also performs great, and has a better price/performance ratio.
