Hello Guys!

So, I currently own a GTX 780, but it's getting a little old now, and also consumes a lot of power. There is the GTX 1050 Ti, that doesn't look bad, consumes way less power, much newer (therefore better driver support) and I'm not really sure if it would worth swapping my 780 to a 1050 Ti, I don't know if the 1050 Ti could bring the same performance as the 780. Right now the GTX 1050 Ti is a little bit expensive for an entry level GPU since it has just been released. Your thoughts?

driver support difference is not an issue until they stop supporting the 700's, they still support the 400's so you've a few years left

1050ti will be slower than a 780, which is = to a 970/1060

The power usage difference is maybe 80W at full load, so for every 12hrs of full load the 780 will cost you an extra unit of electricity (12p in the UK).

So I wouldn't change.

Is it the 3 tier kind of improvement? is it worth that cost? I think it's actually borderline. It's around 50%, which would take you from barely playable to nicely playable, or maintain speed whilst going from med to high/ultra, but it's not wow! But what's money worth?

Yeah I know what you mean. The thing that made it worth while for me, was that at the moment 780s are still getting very good money on the used market. The upgrade cost me around £100, which I thought was decent based on the benefits.

Also I play at 1440p, so it might be a bit more noticeable than 1080p.

I have both cards, an EVGA GTX-780 Ti SC and two MSI GTX-1050 Ti. The GTX-780 is MUCH, MUCH better and faster. Look at the detailed specs and you'll see that your question is verging on ridiculous. The 780 is not by any means an "old" card. it's still faster than most cards NVIDIA is putting out.

Yeah, well I decided to go with the 1060. Happy with it so far. Amazing card.
