GTx 780 vs GTX 670 Sli

If you game @ 1080p there is no point to SLI. TBH i would use SLi to a multi monitor setup (or 2560x1600+ resolutions), otherwise its pointless imo (micro stuttering, compatibility issues with new game releases, alot more power usage...meh, to much stress for nothing :))

I would say it really depends on what your gaming setup is. If you're only gaming at 1080p 60Hz, a single GTX 670 will be sufficient for most games right now and you will probably be able to grab another GTX 670 down the road for even cheaper. However, if you're gaming at 2560x1440/1600, or going with a multi-monitor setup (e.g. 5760x1080), I would consider looking at either the GTX 670 4gb models or the GTX 780, especially if you want to use high AA settings which tends to eat into your vram quickly.

Look Iam 16 An I want something lasts like 2-3 years and for now i cant buy one GTX 670 cuz some games wont be so smooth on Max settings (Up coming games) as well as My Father wont buy like in 1-2 years for more card so I said I could go with gTX 780 then buy another one when I begin working at College .

That makes less sense. If you cannot afford a single GTX 670, then how will you afford a GTX 780 that costs 50% more than a GTX 670? Point is, do you really want to spend $650 on a single card if you're on a tight budget? If you were to buy a single GTX 670, you would save $150, which means that you're already almost half way to another GTX 670. But it's your choice.

XD , I know ur trying to help man and I apperciate it , My Father really wont buy for the same thing but he can pay 650 Max. For Graphics I want to play every game Maxed out for 4 years so i said in the third year I will go for the 2nd as i will begin to work so I suggested Buying one forPlaying BF4 and Metro Last light and every upcoming game for 3 years than I will buy another .

I get what you're saying here but it's worth saying that the performance of the GTX 670 in SLI exceeds a single GTX 780. Out of curiosity, what resolution are you gaming at? Video card technology has historically aged very quickly and even at 1920x1080, I'm not sure you'll be able to max out all games in 2 years time, much less 3 or 4. Even current games aren't maxed out by one GTX 780 at 2560x1440 resolution - Far Cry 3 comes up short of 40fps and Crysis 3 barely clears the 30fps hurdle. Both the 670 and 780 are fantastic cards but are in the middle of 28nm lifecycle with 20nm coming in 2014. I wouldn't get your hopes up for longevity on completed maxed settings - you'll at least have to dial back the AA or move to a smaller resolution.

What about me? I've voiced my suggestion. Point is: GTX 670 SLI is overall better than a single GTX 780. And if you're gaming on 1080p, then a single GTX 670 is sufficient. On multi-monitor support, GTX 670 SLI is the way to go. But if you must have a GTX 780, then buy it. In which case, try to at least sell your GTX 670 for some cash to reduce the cost.

It's like this. If you get a GTX 670 SLI setup, it will wipe the floor with a GTX 780. It's a lot more powerful than a single GTX 780. However, if you get a 780, it's a more powerful single card and will easily handle games for the next year or 2, at which point you could in theory add another GTX 780. The reality of the matter is, you're never going to be able to play every single game at absolutely maxed out settings unless you're willing to fork out around £800 every time they release a new set of graphics cards (every 18-24 months or so). You'll come close to maxing them all out, but graphics in games increase exponentially and every generation of cards is significantly faster than it's previous generation. The GTX 780 itself is about 35% faster than the GTX 680 it replaced. You'll be able to max most games out in the future but there'll always be a new Metro or a new Crysis that will make your GPU cry.

To summarize, get a GTX 670 SLI setup if you're not going to be able to afford another 780 in 18-24 months. If you think you will be able to, get the 780.

According to techpowerup, the GTX 780 is about 20% faster than the GTX 680. GTX 670 SLI is on par with a GTX 690, which is about 25-30% faster than a GTX 780.

With the new GTX 770 released yesterday, I strongly urge that you get it instead. It costs $400, which is 61.5% of the cost of the GTX 780 while being only around 10% weaker than a GTX 780. Much more affordable and it already beats out all other GPU contenders around the $400 mark.

Actually I'm very active in the GPU community on the EVGA forums and have discussed this at length with other enthusiasts. The GTX 770 is roughly 6% faster than a GTX 680. The GTX 780 is 35-40% faster than a GTX 680 and is only 5-10% behind a GTX Titan. The GTX 780 is actually about 30% faster than the GTX 770.

The GTX 770 is a GTX 680 that's been re-worked a little. It's specifications are identical to the GTX 680, it just has slightly higher clocks. It's still on the GK-104 chip, unlike the GK-110 chip used in the GTX 780 and the GTX Titan. The GTX 780 is *not* a direct replacement for the GTX 680, it's priced much higher than the 680 was, and it's been designed to create a new niche in the market, between where the 680 was and where the Titan still is. The 770 on the other hand is simply a GTX 680 refresh and is proving to be a bit of a controversial point, as it's not really much improvement over the previous generation of 670's.

SLI'd 670's will crush a GTX 780 into the ground. I personally have EVGA GTX 670 FTW's which are equivalent to stock GTX 680's, so my particular GTX 670's in SLI are about 45% more powerful than a single GTX 780.

To the original poster, if you do get 670's for SLI, I highly recommend that you get the EVGA FTW or the ASUS DirectCU II models, as they are superior to all other types of 670 on the market. There's really not much reason to buy a GTX 770 if you can get the FTW or DirectCU II 670's for £70-80 less, which you can. There's only a 7-8% difference between the 770's and the 670 FTW's. However, if your dad is buying these as a gift, and he doesn't mind paying for the dual 770's, I'd go that route. They're not much faster than the 670's, but they *are* a minor increase, so if he will buy them, go for those. Either SLI'd 670's or 770's will be vastly superior to a GTX 780 if you're only planning to buy one of them.

Look at benchmark sites, if you like. The GTX 780 is far closer to a GTX Titan than it is to a GTX 770. The GTX 770 is a very minor increase over the GTX 680, less than 10%. If you have an EVGA GTX 670 FTW version of the 670, and you have it overclocked, it'll actually match, and occasionally exceed, the GTX 770. It's still running on the original GK104 architecture of the GTX 680 and GTX 670, whilst the Titan and the 780 are both running GK110 modified architecture. The end result is that the GTX 780 is far, far ahead of the GTX 770, which is just a refresh of the 680 basically. That's why it's so cheap. They can't charge more than the 680 was because it's a new gen and it's not much faster, whilst the "successor" (and I use that term loosely) the GTX 780, cost almost £600 and is much closer to a Titan in performance than it is to the 680.

I was looking at benchmarks from techpowerup, which disagrees from the ones you posted. So to better assess the situation, it would help to provide your findings.
