Hi guys!

Im building a pc but I'm still not sure about one part, the GPU.
I want to play 2014-15 games on the highest settings on a 1080p monitor.
I was thinking about getting an R9 290 or a GTX 780Ti.
Is it really worth the 230$ extra?
Also, if i go for the 290, then 290 or GTX 780?

Thanks for replying!

Solution
The 780ti will last quite a while as will the 290. Its mostly about personal preference and how much money you have to spend. With the 780ti, you get advantages like Geforce Experience, shadowplay, and GPU Boost 2.0. With the 290 you get Mantle thats soon to release.
An aftermarket cooler is one like Asus and Gigabyte make. A reference cooler usually runs hotter, and with the 290 already running hot get a aftermarket. If you can link the one you are looking at i can let you know what it is.

I have a 780 ti and think it's Amazing it's providing a much better experience @ 1440p than my old gtx 780.

I've never tried the 290 however I heard it's decent especially if you get an aftermarket cooler.

I suggest you think about the games you want to play because if you want to play games like Assassins creed black flag, watchdogs and other titles that are optimized for Nvidia with psyX then I suggest you go with an Nvidia solution.

Games like BF4 are optimized for for Radeon however the 780 TI performs better slightly than anything Amd has to offer.

Because of Litecoin/Alt coin mining the prices for the 290 have gone up price. You will probably have to pay close to $600 for a non refrence 290.

Depends if you want thing like Geforce Experience, Shadowplay, and GPU Boost 2.0. Personally I much rather NVIDIA than AMD but thats completely up too you.

2 770's will not demolish a 780 ti and it will come with the troubles associated with SLI such as power consumption micro stuttering and lack of support for certain titles.

2 gtx 770's are slightly better than a gtx 690 - check out the tomshardware review the 780 ti is faster than the 690 and neck to neck in other benchmarks...

You can also overclock that 780 ti and according to Nvidia it overclocks better than card they ever made.

Im sure you will do well with either. They are both killer cards. The real question is: Do you want Physx? I used to be an AMD customer until I bought the GTX770. The Physx feature which many games utilize in their programming makes all the difference in the world. Youtube some videos that people have made comparing games they play with and without PhysX. More particles, flowing fabric, rippled water effects and many others all ad the the players immersion. You will never know the difference between the two otherwise unless you are constantly staring at the FPS counter on two machines running the same game with these two cards installed.

I'd rather get a 2 R9 290 than a single 780 Ti,or if you have the money you can get it OC or Get 2 290x instead
