GTX 850M - Can I run Overwatch at 100-120 fps?

Hey, everyone. I wasn't sure where to post this then I found a bunch of threads similar to this on here.

System:

Asus N550JK laptop

Windows 8.1 64bit

Intel i7 4710HQ ~ 2.5 GHz

Ram 8 GB

Graphics card GTX 850M 4GB DDR3


I know that the laptop screen caps out at 60 fps but after recently playing at 120 fps+ I noticed a HUGE difference. If I were to buy a 144hz monitor, would my system be able to run Overwatch smoothly at a higher fps on low settings? I've got an mdp port, so the mdp to dp cable should be able to transfer a higher frequency.

If not, would getting an external powered display adapter do anything (sorry if this is a dumb question, literally only learning about this stuff since yesterday).

I'd buy a 144hz monitor, an Asus VG248QE to be exact.

Thanks for reassuring me. I'd love some more opinions on the matter as the monitor is quite costly and would hate to purchase it then find out it's unplayable.
