Hello guys,

I currently have a nvidia geforce gtx 950 that uses direct x 11

Is upgrading to a nvidia geforce gtx 960 worth it? This one:

Thanks in advance!

Thats another option if you want more performance on the cheap. Wish it had more than 2gb of VRAM however.
I would honestly say (And I know some will disagree) that IMO you should save up and stick another 950 in there. The performance of two 950's in SLI is comparable to a higher end 970.

If you are planning to sell your 950 anyways, the 960 will offer better performance, but it doesn't justify an entire upgrade for a tiny bit of performance increase.

The problem is my motherboard only allows 1 GPU it only has 1 slot for it.

And i never replaced a motherboard. U got some good tut for it?

I also got an i3 3,5GHZ will this work properly in SLI or will it decrease performance?

Thanks in advance!

In that case I would just get a 970. No point in buying a new mobo and another 950 that would likly be about the same price as a 970.

Thanks,

What about a new processor i currently have a i3 3,5GHZ

Will a Intel Core i5 6600 or Intel Core i5 6600K increase performance ingame?

That depends on the game, what games do you play? What i3 do you have? The i5 6600 is a skylake cpu meaning it will only work in motherboards that use the LGA 1151 socket, if you have a haswell i3 that means your motherboard is socket LGA 1150. In that case you would get something like the i5 4690 for a cpu upgrade.

I would not upgrade to the 960 or the 970 right now. As others have said, the 960 isn't a big enough upgrade. The 970 is a big upgrade but it doesn't make sense to buy that right now when many people are saying the Pascal GPUs will be announced next week.

If you can get by with your 950 for a couple months you will probably be able to get a Pascal card in the 970's price range that is quite a bit stronger than the 970.

This is just a really bad time to buy a new Nvidia GPU, especially if you already have one in the 900 series.

well i can afford a 980Ti next month. What about that one?

In that case wait to check out the new Pascal line. Couple more weeks or so.

No one really knows how the 980 Ti will stack up against the Pascal cards in terms of price to performance right now. Sure, a 980 Ti is a great card right now. It will continue to be after the Pascal announcement. It's possible that the Pascal 970 or 980 replacement will match the 980 Ti's performance for less money though.

It just doesn't make sense to decide anything right now when Pascal is probably going to be announced next week.
