GTX 950M GDDR3 vs GDDR5 versions

What're the real differences in terms of performance between gddr5 and gddr3 versions of the 950m?

I'm looking at an $800 Asus K501LX which comes with the gddr3 version 950m and otherwise seems the perfect mix of specs for my purposes. I'm a landscape architecture student and looking for a budget laptop that's good enough for auto cad while not being a fat heavy gaming laptop.

Is there any reason I should worry about having the gddr3 version? Are the K501LX components going to work together well?

performance, gddr5 will always be significantly faster


might look at cad benchmarks comparing the two

in games the difference can be huge, so it might be a wise thing to do
