Hi,

I am about to purchase an EVGA GTX 960 4 GB to attach 4 monitors to it. On EVGA's website it says it can support it, but it also says the GTX 650 can support 4 monitors. I have a GTX 650 here and it only has 3 input ports (on their images as well), so I think it's a lie. Can someone show me proof that a GTX 960 supports 4 monitors?

Thanks in advance,

Jasper

my gtx 960 is handling 4 monitors fine. 1 HDMI, 2 dvi-d, and i have a DP to hdmi adapter plugged in (15 bux on sale) allowing me to use another hdmi monitor... the monitor has no dp port on it. good luck with your 8 setup..im sure it will be something cool..if not overkill.

fyi: its a gtx 960 by gigabyte

Your GTX960 will definitely be able to support 4 monitors provided that the card has 4 output ports and you use the appropriate adapters in order to connect it to the said monitors. (Check the manufacturer's website to verify this first!)

Your GTX650 is hard-wired to support up to 4 monitors in case that third party board partners want to create their own version of the card with 4 outputs.
But because most of the manufacturers produced the card with only 3 output ports at most, this is not possible.

Those were some fast replies. Thanks!

I don't plan on using NVIDIA Surround. I want 2 GTX 960s and run 8 monitors on them. I will start by buying a single GTX 960 and then buy the second if it all runs smooth (and, hopefully as expected, 4 per GPU).

I am not entirely sure yet if the cards will fit in my tower, though. I have an Aerocool XPredator Black Edt. bk ATX.

The reason I am not going with Eyefinity is because it seems to drag out everything as if you're using a single monitor.

Would you advice anything else? I don't want to spend all too much money and I feel like the GTX 960 is pretty affordable. I will also sell my 2 GTX 650's for ~100 euro each (2GB version) so that should make up for some of the expenses.
Please note I am not planning to use this setup for gaming. I will sometimes play some games, but my main task is programming with Visual Studio.

If I read it right the case supports cards up to a length of 330mm The cards i think are 256mm so it seems it should be good.

The websites i found for the case were German and i translated it via Google so I am hoping my info is good.

Great, thanks. :)

However I am still not a 100% sure it can actually run 4 monitors. A lot of different places stating different points. :(

How does Surround relate to Mosaic and Xinerama modes (visible in the Nvidia configuration tool on Ubuntu)?

Hi daa, do you use an active adapter to run these monitors, or is the dp - hdmi adapter just passive? Find no answers. Thx

I'm running a GTX 960 with 4 monitors now. 1 HDMI, 1 DVI, 2 Display Port. Pretty easy. I'm trying to take it up to 5 but I found this thread and it seems 4 is the max.

I'm curious if I add another video card is there anything limiting me from adding more though?

Hi Jonno, thanks for your answer. Indeed, 4 monitors are plug & play with an gtx 960.

If you want to run more than 4 monitors, i guess a second graca will do. I chatted online with an Nvidea Operator. You´ll get within only 5 a ticket to get your profounded answers you need!

I know that you need a motherboard which support Nvidea SLI to set up two cards. ATI boards support crossfire. I do not know any board which has more than two slots for gracas. Maybe some professional stuff. Because of limeted space in your case the set up of gracas is also limited. But with this new 0,028mm architecture, the 960 has gone really slim. To set up two of these is quite the best you can do. Because of the fact that one of the 960 needs half of the energy than a 970. And it will run faster than a single 970! But, the 2gb 960 is not recommended for 4k gaming...
