GTX 960 4gb vs R9 380 2gb (upgrade)

I have R9 270x which is now broken and vendor is offering me MSI R9 380 2Gb.
However, I can add 40$ and get GTX 960 4GB

I played GTA 5 and some new games, will that 4GB offer me something more.
Is it smart to add 40$ or should I go with R9 380?

(PC: FX 6300/8GB RAM)

Well, depends of your resolution. IF you're playing at 1080p, i'll take the 960.

What is your resolution, and , do you have plans to upgrade it?

They're pretty similar cards (both much better than a 270x), I'd probably pay the $40 for the 960 with the extra RAM, it won't be that great a performance difference. The extra RAM would be more for the peace of mind for future games.

I have 1920x1080p (24"), not plan to upgrade it any time soon.
I don't know what future will bring. Some new games like GTA, AS... are using more than 2GB ram even now.
Will I get anything to choose GTX 960 which in start in Youtube video is slower with less FPS in games than this.

1080p requires 4GB VRAM to have a smooth play. Some games reach that value, but, doesn't mean you can't play it.

I see 3 options here.

1) Save some bucks: And go for 970.
2) Save some bucks: And wait until Pascal/Polaris release
3) Go for 960 4GB.

960 is slower than 970, so, that is your choice.

OR, maybe go for 380x if is in your budget.

I read review, youtube videos and test and in most games (including Witcher 3) diff is almost nothing. For example GTX 960 (2GB) 42FPS, R9 380 45FPS.
And 4Gb version only adds +2-3FPS. Only diff is in AS in some scenes.

Also, you're gonna need a CPU upgrade before you upgrade to your next card.
