GTX 960 and directx12

Nope, as stated by AMD's Robert Hallock the Maxwell series cards (9xx) do not support all DX12 features.

Also- AMD cards do not fully support DX12 features either. (But it seems they do support more features than the Maxwell cards)

I don't think it will be possible to add features via driver/firmware updates, but I could be wrong.

AMD cards appear to be more optimzied for DX12 than NVIDIA... after all I believe it was developed off Mantle. So we might be looking at another inversion since NVIDIA cards are heavily optimized for DX11. Early on it NVIDIA had driver issue but those seem to be fixed.

That article tells it like it is. There weren't any games that required a specific feature level of 11 (to their knowledge), so its reasonable to expect the same for 12. When talking of feature levels, and even directx versions, keep in mind team leads and management have to see actual value in increasing the complexity of their work. Will utilizing a specific feature level of any directx version translate into more sales? Hell no in nearly all cases. These sorts of things will trickle in over years as the teams become more familiar with them, and their value is proven over time. How many of you have a team lead or a boss who's kinda sorta set in their ways? 😉

I say grab a 960 or the AMD equivalent, or whatever else you may want, and worry not.
