To start here are my specs:
MoBo - 990FX Motherboard Fatal1ty Profess1onal Series
GeForce GTX 960 SSC 4GB ( Its a 8Pin to connect to my PSU, but I'm using 6+2 Pin)
AMD FX(tm)-8120 Eight-Core Processor
16GB Ram (12 GB Usable)
1600 x 900, 60Hz resolution
Windows 7 64bit
650W Neo Eco
Drivers are up to date (368.22)
Not sure where to begin really lol, my mind is mush after days upon days of looking for a solution . .. I'm looking up more ways to fix this than actually playing any games ...
For two games mainly, Skyrim and Mad Max ... Since before may 25th I've been using a GeForce 550 ti to play games, for Skyrim, I have over 30 mods, and the FPS was around 35 ... For Mad Max is was around 30-35FPS but having to stop driving around so everything can load, like Buildings and such ... Now since I've installed my GTX 960 I've been having weird FPS drops during gameplay ... Skyrim plays around 25-30 FPS, literatly no change from my old card, with Mad Max, its litereatly no change, around 30 FPS ... But with Mad Max during the first moment, not even 5 mins, the FPS drops from 30 to 12-15, sometimes i'll Alt + Enter twice and it will kick into gear but it shoots back to 12-15 FPS .... When in Settings/Options in both games, in-game, the FPS shoots up to 70-80FPS in both games, but when I go back in-game it drops back down ... During the Load screen of both the FPS counter reads 200-900 FPS << randomly goes up and down >> Causing the loading time to be around 10 mins till I do alt + enter but even then its a crap-shoot, meaning sometimes it works others it doesn't . . . . Its kinda Phsycopathically starting to be funny in a Silence of the Lambs sort of way . . . lol
Before buying the new gtx 960 I made sure it was compatible with my MoBo and Processor and found numerous people asking the same with similar rigs as mine with everyone saying there wouldn't be a problem so . . . .
I've Cleaned the dust out oh the whole tower
did a Clean install of my Windows 7
Verified the games Cache more than 10 times a piece
Re-installed both around 4 times
I've used DDU to get rid of all things that are Nvidia twice and re-installed my new 960 card
Bios and Chipset are all fine
When Playing Mad Max, I'll unplug the internet cord from my CPU and the 12-15 FPS goes away
but during gameplay it will go from 30FPS to 12-15 <<< Unplugging the internet gets rid of WB play (Warner Bro's) for some reason, unknown to me, it messes up the game royally ....
In Task Manager I've changed the Affinity to high for both games
Temps are around 70 so fans turn on, but never forced the GPU fans to be 100% powered on
I've even tried a different 6 pin plug alongside the +2pin, think i'll buy a 8 Pin to 2-6Pins just to give it more of a boost ...
The Voltage is fine
And the Ram is working just fine
And I've went through Nvidia Control Panel and messed with all those settings to make it work off of High Performance from my Card not the CPU .... Which to me seems, at this point, why even have a GPU if it doesn't work the way its supposed to work, even when the Games them self's have V-sync when Nvidia has their own type of V-sync, which I don't have a Monitor that Supports it so guess that cancels out . . . . >.>
I did tho, have to Format my CPU in this Last March cause I was cleaning up the programs I didn't use anymore or don't know what they are even doing there to begin with and I accidentally deleted Microsoft case sensitive files that messed my rig up to where it was freezing on the Windows Loading Screen, but ironically during the rare times I got into my CPU at that time, both these games were playing good considering my old card ... After the Formating is when these problems really started to happen so I've been No Lifing it on Runescape since a few days ago trying to figure out why stuff wont work . . . . I'm wondering if during the format that there were some files that are overlapping which doesn't make sense since I've told the format to not keep a single thing from my old specs .... I'll be needing to get a new Hard Drive next year since its gone from 1000gb to around 300gb ... After I first got my rig it was at 931GB .... Gonna Try and start in Safe Mode and play the games with nothing starting up in the background and turning up the performance by getting rid of the fancy transperant windows stuff but I'm not holding my Breath . . . .
But in all that's what I'm dealing with ... FYI: Runescape in the new NXT Client ran at 55-60 FPS on my old card and now its running at 180-200 FPS on my new card so I know the thing works . . . . Just seems like its Tempormental when it comes to Mad Max and other new games out there . . . . Oh, and if someone can tell me why my account cant log into Uplay would be nice to know too 😛 lol
