The pc i have now is about 3 years old, in its prime it would play all games at high graphics. now it seems like every game i play i have to set the graphics to the lowest possible inorder for it to be playable, this goes for games such as: fortnite, overwatch, and most other games.
note: ive tried doing a clean install of the graphics drivers many times with no success. my monitor is also plugged into the gpu. And i have disabled my integrated graphics aswell

My specs:
GTX 960
i5-4460 @3.2 Ghz
RM 750 watt
1x8 gb ram @1866
GA-Z97X

any help would be greatly appreciated!

Try a benchmark like firestrike or unigine heaven and compare your results to some you can find online. While that runs, monitor the temperature and frequency of the GPU. It could be overheating and throttling.

Might need to have its thermal compound replaced.

Run a benchmark. Have a look at the card aswell, see if it's too dusty for the fan to move as it could be throttling. I also recommend Repasting it as the old paste may be all dry causing it to overheat.
