Hi there,
I was hoping someone could advise whether I have a faulty GFX or whether I'm doing something wrong. The GFX I'm talking about specifically is a Asus GTX 960 Strix 2GB.
I've built a new rig from scratch and wanted to have a dual screen set up. My monitors are relatively old in the sense that they only have VGA outputs.
Upon putting everything together (exception of GPU), the PC boots up fine where my motherboard (Asus Maximus VI Gene MATX) has only one display output that happens to be HDMI.
My monitor is using a VGA to HDMI converter of which works fine when starting up (plugged into the motherboard).
Upon installing my Asus GPU - it makes the integrated graphics redundant (which is understandable), where all the reliance of display output goes to my graphics card. In saying this, it does not detect my monitor when being plugged into the HDMI of the GPU.
However, on plugging my monitor into the DVI port (of the GPU), the image works fine. And attempting to run the GPU off both DVI and HDMI, only the DVi monitor works.
I have additionally attempted to connect my TV (which is completely separate to the monitor) via HDMI and the GPU was unable to detect it (and yes, I did attempt to select the correct channel on the TV, for HDMI).
My question is, should this graphics card run straight off the back of being plugged into the PCIE slot (regardless of whether I wish to use DVI, Display Ports or HDMI) or is it reliant on updated drivers in order to function?
I have already installed the drivers off the CD it came with, but I am still having no luck in detecting my monitor which is hooked up via HDMI.
I have no display port monitors to trial the other ports.
My previous graphics cards have always been plug and play so I don't know whether I currently own a faulty GPU and any advice would be appreciated. Those who own the same graphics card would also be able to advise me on whether they were also able to plug in HDMI straight away without any driver updates.
Specs of my PC (in case you were wondering):
Asus Maximus V Gene MATX (z87 chip)
8GB Fury DDR3 Ram
250 Samsung Evo 850 SSD
600w Corsair PSU
Intel i5 4690k
Corsair H100i Hydro cooling fan
Thanks in advance
