Looking for help troubleshooting my installation of a GeForce GTX960 on an Inspiron 570.
The specific card is a EVGA GeForce GTX 960 SuperSC ACX 2.0+ 2GB GDDR5 128bit:

The i570 came with a stock 300w PSU. I had previously upgraded it to a 500w PSU and have been running a GTX 470 on it for years:

A user at the Dell forums was persuasively insistent that a 500w PSU was insufficient to power the new card and specified a 750w unit, which I have obtained and installed.

However, even after verifying the power load and cables, the machine still fails to boot with the GTX960 seated and powered. The machine can be brought up with an ancient VGA card seated in PCI1. In this instance, Device Manager recognizes the GTX960 and describes it as enabled and working properly. However, the card will not produce video and invoking the resolution control panel and asking it to detect additional monitors does not succeed.
The card works as intended when installed on a Mac Pro under manufacturer supplied drivers for Mac OS X Yosemite and later, and with some restrictions under Win 7 bootcamp on that same Mac. The restriction is that an additional card from the same manufacturer, the Mac's stock GT 120, cannot be seated when booting into Windows or the GTX960 will not produce video-out.
There is something about this specific problem that must relate to the problem i am experiencing on the i570, but I haven't been able to winkle it out yet. What's similar is that in both cases the 960 is not producing video when another card is or video-out is active on the system. In the case of the i570, there's no readily apparent way to actually disable the on-board VGA out, although it is not recognized by Device Manager when the system is booted with the additional old PCI VGA card seated.
Any input would be welcome.
