Gtx 960 issues after owning a week

Bought an evga gtx 960 ftw last week. Threw it in the desktop and it worked great for almost a week, no hiccups, solid 60 fps constantly. Then on the 6th or 7th day, I started getting random drops where the GPU will drop from 60 fps to 15 (using v-sync). Mind you when I take it off of vsync im usually getting 170 fps(This is all in reference to Diablo 3). Also randomly I get a splotchy square of random graphic mess maybe once every 30 minutes or so. My old gpu ( 740 gt) never had any of these issues.

Updated the drivers and still having issues.

My specs are:
corsair 750w psu
intel Q9650 core2 quad cpu
8gb ddr3 ram
1tb ssd

should i return the gpu?

You might try uninstalling the driver with DDU and then reinstalling an older driver from Nvidia's website. Also check your temps in game to see if you have a thermal issue.

its not like NVidia has been doing so well in there driver department lately [may need to fish around a older one that works better ??

I doubt that your drivers just went bad after several days. Sound like you got a bad card to me. I would return if possible. Sorry for your luck!

Could the artifacts i see every 30 minutes be a sign of an unstable factory overclock?

If you're seeing artifacts off of an untampered card, it's a bad card.
