I am trying to update my dell precision T3500 to allow for some gaming.

Windows 10 pro 64
Intel xenon
24 ram

I currently have a quadro FX4800 on it and can play games like battlefield 4 but with lag problems and glitches. I have been trying to play battlefield 1 and bought a new gpu,a gtx 1050 but the install would go to a black screen on me, so I tried a Gtx 960 4gb same thing happened.

I have seen people on YouTube with the same pc and a gtx 960 working for them.

The screen goes black during installation and won't fully start after. Will stay stuck on Windows start up unless I force it to start on easy mode.

Any ideas?

Clarification: When you say "black during installation", do you mean that the screen is black immediately after physically installing the card and turning on the computer? Or do you mean the computer boots up with the GTX 960 but the screen goes black upon installing the drivers?

During installation, less than a quarter of the way into it, it goes black with only the mouse visible. It stays like that for hours if I allow it, left it over night once, about 5 to 6 hours.
I force it off and boot up and it goes pass windows and stays loading.
I never get the drivers installed.

Ah, then the issue has nothing to do with secure boot.

Download and run ADW Cleaner to scan for infection. There probably isn't one, but it'll only take a 5 minutes to scan with this free utility. Then download and run DDU (Display Drivers Uninstaller) and allow it to automatically reboot your computer into safe mode, to completely remove all remnants of your drivers. Then download and do a custom installation of the latest drivers but uncheck the Geforce Experience.

Do these steps now and report back the results.

Followed those steps and same thing happens less than a quarter of the way into installation: screen goes black with only the mouse noticeable.

My problem is not the game installing, it's the nvidia drivers for the graphics card. The game installs fine it just does not allow me to play on my old gpu cuz the drivers do not go that high. Old card.
