GTX 960 or R9 280x??

My Budget is $300 Australian Dollars , My PCs GPU just Died and now i got no other GPU , and i need help choosing one, I seen a Galax GTX 960 for $285 and there is also a ASUS R9 280X DirectCUII for $260 , which card is better to go for and why? thanks also if you can recommend me another card that $300 or less would be great (btw im in Australia)

MSI and Asus make the best GPUs. Grab one of those unless you can get a good price on others like Sapphire. And as mentioned, the 280x is better than the 960. What is your PSU and CPU? (Just to make sure you have enough power for the 280x)

My CPU is Pentium G3258 @ 4.6Ghz and my PSU is Antec 500w

As long as the PSU is a Tier 3 or better you should be fine. Its probably one of the VP or Earthwatt models but you should double check.

280x is faster but warmer than 960 and support dx12.0

but gtx 960 More support from nvidia (more game Optimization) and support dx12.1

With only a 128-bit memory interface going with the 4gb version is a waste of money.

I'd get the 280x. It'll beat the 960 and it doesn't matter how much VRAM as long as you have 3GB...oh the 280x is cheaper? win win.
