hello tomshardware i have 4 questions about the gtx 960 windforce x2 with OC boost 4gb
1: is it a good upgrade from the r7 260x?
2nd: can a corsair vs 650w 85+ handle this card ? even with oc?
3rd: will the i5 4690 bottleneck this card?
final question: is this card good for casual 1080p gaming or should i go for gtx 970 but wait 4-5 months?

Solution
yeah @ 1080p of gaming, i think after about 1.5years you may have to lower some setting from ultra to high but other wise yes. it will last you a good while.

there is honestly really no exact way of determining the life of a graphics card but it is by far faster than a 950 and the 970 is to much of a leap in cost to justify buying it atm, when you can get a 960 for as low as 179$-199$ it a very good value for the money.
next up would be an ATI r9 390x for 279$ and a 970 for 289$

when the time comes that you may need more power (if at all) you can always overclock a little, i recommend getting a higher end card for 199$ such as an MSI TF OC or EVGA OC FTW edition. that come stock with higher clocks and basicly the cream of the crop...

yes it is a good up grade
yes you 650 will handle it
no your i5 will not bottle neck it
no 970 vs 960 for 1080p makes only minor difrence not enuogh to shell out and extra 100$
no you should not wait cause then you will always wait cause there is "always" something new and untold and rumors around the corner.

if you plan on play on an 1080p screen a 960 is an excent chioce and will last you for a very long time 2year plus go for it.

in the end, it is all your money but i rarely reach for the top of the line chips such as 970/r9 390x or 980ti.
they fade out to fast and cost too much for the short time that they are on top of the leader board.
i dont have a 4k screen, don't plan on getting one. but for 1080p 960 will be perfect. and if you upgrade in a year or two, you don't feel like you just threw 300$ out the window either. cause as you said there is always something new around the corner.

i have a 960 with an AMD and can max everything i throw at it.
im playing games with not benchmarking it and the evga works out great with the evga works great their OC tool. there is a difference between having frapps running 24/7 or just playing games and the 960 with the i5 is more than sufficient. if he is running 1080p and not 4k.
the cheapest 970 is like a power color LE and even those are limited at best he would only start to get in the leage of a 970 where it really pays off when he hits ~320$ almost 100$ more. plus he would be back to pushing the boarder of 650watts as if he did that, again unnecessary.

fact of matter is, with a 960EVGA and tool he would be pushing bottom boarder of a 970 card without the 100$ spent.

if it was a 950 that my be difrent. ...
