Which will be good for gaming gtx 960 2gb sli or a single 4gb gtx 970 for gaming at 1080p resolution?
And does gtx 960 sli performs equal as a single gtx 980?

Solution
Among ASUS GTX970 Strix and the 4 MSI GTX970s.
In this case vaultnoob is correct, the Twin Frozr is the better slightly better one but if you want to go with Strix, this card is also awesome.
The differences between all 5 of those are quite minimal.
GTX970 is in general a good overclocker, this is also a matter of luck, if you get a good chip, it can go high.
The factory stock speed of those GPUs is not really important, you can also OC all of them using afterburner.
The unlocked voltage might help a bit for OC but on GTX970, the voltage is not really holding back the OC.
Temperature is the most important stuff.
Thus, the most important thing is the cooling, Twin Frozr is a wee bit better.

heres the thing about dual cards, they are best left as an upgrade option, or when the single fastest card isnt enough power or not cost effective. Dual cards come with dual card related issues, however minor, it can potentially mean a game is running on only one card if dual cards dont work properly with it. Always opt for a better single card over 2 mid range cards if there is an option. a gtx970 is more than enough for 1080p so go with that.

Don't SLI 970 in the future because pascal is coming out and you can always sell 970 and buy a better gpu.

msi has twin frozr V and strix has direct cu ii both are great but msi is more popular and the msi has unlocked voltage for overclocking the strix has locked voltage so msi will overclock better

The twin frozer is availble in india.
I was thinking to buy the strix. There are 3 models of the gtx 970 of msi are availbale in india
The 4gd5t OC
the 100me gaming
And the 4g gaming

Solution
50$ is not worth it but if you could negotiate the price and make the difference 20$ or less then yes
if not spend the 50$ on sometiong else (better case , mouse , keyboard etc)
