So just a few weeks ago I bought the Zotac GTX 960 2gb version for my new PC. After insatlling all the drivers the card seems to be really slow.

On games like CS:GO i get no more than 60 frames on low and in games like Battlefield 4 I get 40 -60 frames on low.

I know the card can do much better and my amd a10-7890k shouldnt be holding it back, ive seen much worse cpus get better results than what im getting.

Ive tried older drivers for the GTX 960 and disabled the Integrated graphics of my cpu to make sure those weren't issue.

If anyone has any ideas please help!!!

no, if you say that your cpu and headsink are installed correctly and all the good things are in place, then i think that your cpu is just falling behind, keep in mind that not all cpus are made equally. i think it might be a time for an upgrade and anyways that a10 is quite old as for.
with your current mobo cpu combo, it seems that you have the best of the best, (out of the fm2+ socket) so you cant upgrade your cpu without getting a new mobo, if i recommend id recomend putting around 300$ into a i5 6500 (200$ give or take) and a nothing to insane z170 mobo which can be any you please but with a tight budget id recomend something around 100$ https://pcpartpicker.com/product/Fn7CmG/gigabyte-motherboard-gaz170hd3

I was actually just checking that only the CPU seemed to be throttling, the GPU was actually on running at 60% on battlefield 4 but im only getting about 60 fps on low =/ ... but on the other hand, all four cores of my cpu where at 100% but only at around 40degrees so...

if it is throttling at 100% and your gpu is at 60% it is your cpu that is holding you back.

What is your cooling method with your a10?

What are clock speeds when your cpu is at 100%?

if you can awenser these question then helping you would be alot easier

This was interesting to test, my cooling method is the wraith cooler the a10-7890k comes with and i also have a fan on my pc to take air in.

The cpu speeds where interesting -
cpu0 and cpu1 averaged at about 4093MHz while my cpu2 and cpu3 stayed at about 1697MHz while all where at 100% while playing battlefield

Turn off that stupid Intel side step bull crap.
Set power settings to performance and drives to never power down.

If nothing helps, roll back your driver and see. When I had my 970 in my gaming rig, with the Jul 30 Geforce driver, performance took a hit on GTA5. Nothing changed on my hardware and drivers.

I rolled back to pre July 2016 and GTA5 was fine. I don't want to say Nvidia purposely did that so that I'd buy a new gpu. My guess is they fixed a problem with something and created one elsewhere (GTA5).

Whats the Intel side stuff your talking about? Ive also tried rolling back onto multiple different drivers and it didnt work =/

It's usually found in the bios settings. What it does is it slows down your cpu when there's no load to "save" electricity. The problem is at any given time there are a ton of process your cpu is running. Should there be a heavy load, the cpu has to ramp up which has a minuscule delay. But processes do add up and it can slow things down or cause stutter at times.

It's hardly noticeable when web browsing or typing up documents. However under the heavy load of games, it can become apparent.

Would you happen to know what that cable looks like, and where its plugged into the motherboard? If you have an image that would be great! Just dont want to pull out a wrong cord and mess it all up.

Thanks!

You mean the DVI and HDMI, yes! Thats the first thing I did.... is there anything else you would happen to know?

All four cores on my CPU go to 100% usage while my GPU stays at a solid 60ish% usage, bit neither seem to be overheating in any way... is there anything else I could possible do?

its because your cpu is bottlenecking your gpu
if you cpu is at 100% and the gpu is at 60% that means your cpu is holding back the prefromance of your gpu.
nothing you can do about it besides get a new cpu, plus i think its time, the amd a10 is literally cancer with the newer cpus and gpus

Well thats the problem, it shouldn't be bottle-necking, ive seen a a10-7850k run with the gtx960 and get good frames on ultra but i cant even play on low! Any other ideas? Thanks for the help though, if you dont have another idea what would be a good cpu under $200 (intel) because amd has been a struggle for me...

Alright, thanks... I did make a bit of a mistake, I was planning on getting a new mobo and a i5-4460 but I decided to cheapskate and buy the best cpu thinking it would be good! I just thought seince I was a a10-7850k run with a gtx 960 at high settings, the a10-7890k should do it no problem. I might try to sell my mobo and cpu for some combo deal and do waht you said... Would this mobo/cpu be bad? http://pcpartpicker.com/list/CgptGX
