gtx 960 vs amd radeon HD7870

Hello im looking to get a gtx 960. I currently have an AMD Radeon HD7870 2gb but im trying to play this game called Project cars and its lags like crap. I get as low as 15 fps even just on low and medium settings. So would a gtx 960 (2gb) be a good upgrade from an Radeon HD7870 (2gb)

That is an 18% performance increase, not what I would consider an upgrade.
Look into at least a 970 class card.

yeah i thought about that but it seems I'd be looking at $500 in my country, whereas the 960 is right on my budget and apparently amd has optimization problems with the game i want to play so thats why im thinking of getting the gtx 960 as an upgrade.

What is your country of purchase?
Something like a 280x, 290, 290x should be cheaper, and still be a sizable upgrade.
If you want to check prices look at a 770. It is a good bit more powerful than the 960, and it still may be cheaper than a 970 in your country.

well i have 2 games atm which both have problems with AMD gpu's. Thats Project CARS and Mortal Kombat X

With $500 budget you can get GTX 970 I thought. I dont know how many percent it would increase the performance but, still it would be better than your old GPU. gtx 960 is best buy for money ,and yes it is better than amd HD 7870 it has latest maxwell architechture and is launched for only $200 some countries may vary a little . if you could get this card get it it is better than gtx 660 ti .
