Gtx 960 vs gtx 970

Is it worth buying the gtx 970 over the 960... I was looking at the gigabyte gtx 970 twin turbo oc and the asus gtx 960 strix 4gb, the twin turbo oc is 304.99 with a $20 rebate and the 960 is 214.99 with a $20 rebate

970 will run 1080p over 60 fps at ultra, while the 960 will run it at med-high settings.

this card can play everything on high or ultra depending on the game.

I agree with your pick of a graphics card, superninja12, but I believe the comparison here is between the 960 and the 970. And it turns out that both of those cards are more efficient than the 380X, according to the five minutes of research just now. Also, the Radeon R9 200/300 series has a hard time with games that heavily use tessellation, so it won't play everything that perfectly if the game is designed for Nvidia cards.

The xfx 380x is actually cheaper than a 960 - its probably the best priced card in the us at the moment around the $200 mark.

& honestly even if a game is biased towards nvidia the sheer grunt of the amd card is going to match or beat the 960 still

I was thinking of buying 2 960s and running sli as appose to just getting one 970... And i prefer nvidia based video cards

well in that case get a gtx 970 (msi is great) for sure, less power consumption and very few games scale well with sli.
most of the the times the gtx970 will win. also less hassle
