gtx 960 vs r9 380 vs rx 480

Which card should i buy for 720p gaming..r9 380 or gtx 960 or rx 480...i will be pairing it with core i5 6600?

I would buy the RX 480 over a last gen card, it will last you longer and run games better if you do move on from 720p. I believe you should buy the best card within you budget at that time. The other two are decent cards up to 1080p and will easily handle 720p for current gen games if you feel the RX 480 is too big a stretch.

It might be overkill at the moment but I presume you don't want to only play current games, the point is that the RX 480 will future proof you better. You may buy a 1080p monitor, future games will require better GPU's. If you got the 960 you'd find yourself replacing it sooner so if you can afford the RX 480 that is the best option. If you can't really afford it at the moment then I would suggest you wait and get the RX 470, it should beat both the previous gen cards and save you a bit of money over the RX480.

It will be for 720p, but it will also last you longer than a r9 380/960.

How long do you wanne last with this gpu and on 720p resolution? Based on that we can give a better answer.

If you're set on staying 720p even a gtx 950 or r7 370 will max games for the foreseeable future IMO.
Rx 480= absolutely crazy overkill.

By all accounts go with a 960 or 380 if in budget - they'll smash through games at that resolution without barely getting stressed.

I will play mainly on 720p ...there are very less chances to upgrade to 1080p..now please tell the best of these cards?

Will be dependant on prices mate really.
As said the 480 is overkill.

At 1080p I'd go 380 as its a bit more powerful than the 960.

At 720p that doesn't really matter though , they'll perform the same.

The 960 supports physx & gameworks so would probably get my vote .

A 950 would do the job at 720p just as well if its substantially cheaper though.

Go for the 480, it is a bit overkill for 720p but you won't need to upgrade your video card when you change your monitor in the future plus you can use virtual super resolution to play your games at 1080p and down-sample them to 720p to make them look alot better at that resolution.

What is virtual super resolution?

It'a a option that both amd and nvidia have in their driver control panel to allow you to play the games at resolution higher that your monitors. This has the advantage that it offers a cleaner image and for a 720p monitor i would highly recommend you use it.
