Hey guys,

I already asked a couple of questions about what GPU should I get and if my system handles it.

FX 6300 3.5GHz
Asus M5A97 EVO2
350W PSU(I will upgrade to at least 500w)

I was going with the GTX 960 (still wondering if I should get 2gb or 4gb, i will be playing overwatch most of the time) until I saw several forum discussions with people saying that they should get the R9 380 if it's the same price and that it should be a no brainer.

I find this hard to believe, since no one here told me to go for the R9 380 instead. Also 2gb or 4gb?

Thanks!

I would wait a few weeks, its only like 2 until amd replaces its mid range with polaris, at the very least the 380 and the 960 might get a price drop or there will be a better card to buy. Current rumor puts r9 470/480 (whatever it may be called) at 390x performance and 135w tdp. The card rumored at current 380 performance could be sub 75w and no need for power connector.

Go with the GTX 960 for PhysX and other graphics settings. The performance difference is otherwise minimal.

In benchmarks I've seen, the R9 380 will outperform the GTX 960 in almost every game, with the obvious exception of games that rely heavily on physics. This performance difference is almost negligible, though, only about 2-5 FPS in each test. It may be worth it for you to go with the 960, as it uses less power and I really would get at least a 600 Watt for my 380. (Which I did)
