I read a few posts on here about bottlenecking I may face if I use a GTX 970 with an AMD Fx-6300, but it seems there were mixed responses. Some said it will get bottlenecked, some said it wont, some advised to Overclock the CPU. I will give a details of my Rig below, so kindly advise on a few things:

1) Thinking of buying an MSI GTX 970 this weekend. After reading a lot of reviews, I decided on the card. Is that a good choice? Or should I buy some other Variant?

2) I have been an AMD user so far, so this will be my first switch to nVidia. Should I do that or stick with an AMD card? I have an R7 265 installed in my rig right now.

3) Will the card be bottlenecked if used with an FX-6300? If yes, are there any workarounds to avoid that?

Below is my System Spec:
Mobo - Asus M5a 78LM USB 3
CPU - FX 6300 Vishera
Ram- 8Gb Kingston HyperX
GPU - Sapphire R7 265
PSU - iBall 500W, will be changing to Antec VP650P this weekend too.
Monitor- AOC e2352Phz 1920X1080P

Thinking of Buying an aftermarket CPU Cooler Like Cooler Master Hyper TX3 EVO or Cooler Master Hyper 212X. Considering the weather in India, where the CPU runs at around 65-75 Degree Celsius during heavy Gaming, is that advisable? Are there any better CPU Coolers available (not the water Cooled ones, too costly) ?

Thanks to all the advise in advance.

1. The MSI GTX 970 is a very nice card and I would say it is probably the best. It is the most quiet.

2. You should give GTX 970 a try, it is a top-notch card currently and will max out many games.
Comparison between GTX 970 vs R7 265: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1127?vs=1355

3. Generally speaking it will not. However in CPU intensive games, yes it will be. You should buy an aftermarket cooler to overclock the FX 6300 to lessen the bottleneck. Want to see the GTX 970 at it's true potential? i5 4690k + Z97 board will let you see true colors.

A 970 would be a good card to match your 6300, there would be no bottlenecks with that system. I have a 6300 and an r9 vapor x and it runs everything in max at 1080 and every game at 4k in at least med to high.(not o'clocked) Only crysis 3 is a little held back by the cpu but never drops below 30 fps in ultra.
Unless you get an i7 i very much doubt there would be any noticable difference between any cpu's (exept to your wallet) don't be fooled by the intel fan boys your amd is fine check you tube, search fx 6300

6300 can't even beat i3 in GTA5:

Some people don't call this a bottleneck, but I do.

What about the CPU Cooler? Do you think I should get that? Or skip it?

Thanks for the detailed response. Investing in a New CPU and Mobo right now maybe a bit too much. But I am thinking that getting the GPU will make it future proof, and I can easily swap the required parts later?

Also, not much idea about OC'ing, apart from the general guides and How to Do's, so I probably wont do that.

GTX 970 is a great choice, you should be set for a few years or so. But the CPU isn't. The CPU you have is still for now but please consider upgrading in the future if you can. However, like all technology there is no such thing as future proof because technology is growing at such a rapid pace.

That would be wise. You do not have to overclock if you are not confident enough to do so.

Just benchmarked on gta v with my 6300 and r9 290x and got 44 fps on average up to 72 in places, i would get the 970 and judge for yourself i'm pretty sure you wont be upgrading your cpu any time soon i know i'm not. nb in game benchmarks are often a lot more demanding than the game itself when playing gta v in ultra at 1080 i NEVER drop below 60 fps.
