Hi,

PC Specs:
CPU: AMD Athlon X4 750K 3.4 GHZ
GPU: EVGA GTX 970 4gbs
Motherboard: MSI FM2-A75MA-E35

I just went to my local best buy today and got myself a new GTX 970 EVGA 4GB to replace my Radeon 7950 that's getting old.

So I plugged my bad boy in and it's working really badly and I'm not sure what the problem is. On the Desktop and surfing the web I don't see any problems, but in games like the Witcher 3 I'm getting really bad pop-ins and lighting glitches that I didn't have with the 7950 and FPS is pretty bad compared to the 7950 too. So then I loaded up Payday 2 and I got the same lighting effect problems and worse FPS than my 7950 (below 30 and lots of stuttering).

All the new drivers installed and when I was plugging the card in my motherboard, a little piece of plastic on the PCI-Express where you put the card, broke off but the card still fits in fine and I'm not sure if it's a bottlenecking issue. If it is a bottlenecking issue I'm getting an i5 46900k with a new motherboard in a few days so that part is fine,

Anyways, please help as I don't want my new $350 card go to waste and any help is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Artifacting and lighting glitches are often symptoms of a bad GPU. I'd return it, get it replaced and see if it behaves the same way. You should be within your returns date. If the card broke when you installed it, it was either a bad unit or you did something wrong.
Hope I helped.
:)

Thank you all for the responses and answers, I've rebooted my PC multiple times and reinserting and powered the GPU and I'm gonna see if it decides to work, if not, I'll return it and should I ask for a refund or replacement, because AMD has never given me these problems and the first time I try nVidia, this shit happens.

Again, thank you all for helping my dumbass who can't figure out if it's DOA, have a great rest of your day!

is most likely BEST BUY not Nvidia. they throw stock around like its a baseball

I've rebooted and reinserted the card and the lighting and artifacts have gone away, but I still have some stuttering in the Witcher 3, could that be due to CPU bottleneck since I have a weak and outdated one. Other than that, the card is running great and giving me better FPS than with my old card.

I was gonna tell you to pull the card and reinstall too. I am glad you got it.. YES your cpu is a definite bottleneck........but its cool . you will still get more performance from the new card it just wont give you all that it has to offer in terms of power
