GTX 970 buzzing/hissing. Is this coil whine?

Hey, so ever since I got this GPU, it makes a hissing/buzzing noise whenever I'm playing a (relatively) high-end game. I hear that coil whine is pretty common with the GTX 970 (something I found out only after purchasing, sadly) but I just wanted to confirm if this is what it is and put my mind at ease, or it's something I should be more worried about! I did a video on it, which you can see here. Let me know what you think. Thanks.

I listened to it again with my headphones.

I think you have very mild coil whine...

"I don't think it's a big deal"
Hmmm, it's quite difficult to tell by the video, but I don't think it's anything too serious to worry about. Have you checked whether any of the fan blades on the GPU are damaged? Did you adjust the fan curve?

BTW, does it only make the sound in the game menus or also while playing the game? It's normal for cards to have coil whine when they're outputting 3,000 FPS in the game menu.

I don't think it's anything to do with the fans, since the sound starts the moment a game loads up, before the fans kick in. The blades look fine to me, in any case. And I don't know what fan curve is lol. The sound doesn't happen in the menus, only when in actual gameplay.

I don't think so... I think Palit is the brand.

I've set that and it doesn't help. Still, it's not the sound itself that bothers me, more what it means.

You can try to return or RMA your card...

Depends on the circumstance many cards will exhibit coil whine...

The members above mentioned scenarios where coil whine might happen.

What games cause the coil whine?

Coil whine doesn't usually mean anything bad, it's just annoying. Unless you have some other problem like the fan maybe, I wouldn't worry about it.

As I said, all high-end games I've tried cause it. These include Watch Dogs, Lord of the Fallen, Wolfenstein: The New Order, and Crysis 2.

Again, as I already said I doubt it's a fan problem because it happens before they kick in, and I linked to a video where you can hear it in my first post.

No reason to be scared because you have warranty... I suggest you call Palit and see if they will send you a new card...

The chances are that even if you figure out what the problem is you will not be able to fix it yourself...

So, I went to Palit's website and saw about RMA, and according to that you have to go through the vender who you bought their product from. For me that was Amazon, so I sent an email to their RMA operations and... now we wait!

So, I haven't had a reply yet, but there's something else I didn't talk about that I realize I probably should have. Although my GPU makes a noise with most games, the ones it makes with Watch Dogs is actually unique to the others, which is what I had running in the first vid I posted. In all other games it sounds more like hissing. So, in the hopes that this actually could be coil whine, I thought I should show you guys this other noise, and see what you think. I use FurMark, but as I say, it's the same noise it makes in pretty much every game other than Watch Dogs.
