gtx 970 card

hi, i have an old evga gtx 970 that i havent used in a while. mayb about 1-1.5yrs? I decided to build a 2nd pc and used the gtx 970. but at first it wasnt detecting it. i took it out and started using an hd 7950 card for a while. then i tried again after a while. mayb a couple months later. i uninstalled and cleaned the pc off of amd drivers and etc. and it started detecting the gtx 970 as an r9 270x? I decided to just run with it and see how games would run on it even w/o installing drivers. it ran games pretty smoothly. but im jus wondering why it wont detect as a gtx card.

Maybe the drivers you have installed are out dated or not compatible with your gtx, is this possible?

well thats the thing though. because the system isnt detecting a gtx card. it wont let me install any drivers. and i have tried putting this card on my main pc btw. and on another pc too. one was an amd ryzen with 1060 and the other was with a i7 7700k with a 1070. both did not detect the card too

Try going to the bios and see wether or not it recognizes that its connected to a pcie slot

Because if it fails to detect the fact its even connected it means the card is faulty or is broken. :/
