When I play graphic intensive games such as PlayerUnknown's Battleground my computer randomly crashes and takes me to "DVI No Signal" / "Black screen of death" on my monitor but I can still hear sound.

I've read that many people with a GTX 970 are encountering or have encountered the same problem. How can i fix this? I really don't want to buy a new card, spent quite a bit on this one.

I'm monitoring my temps and they seem to be normal I don't think its a temperature problem.

Been gaming with this for 2 years without any problems (graphic intensive games too)

My Rig ~
- CPU: i7-4770
- GPU: GeForce GTX 970
- RAM: 16 Gb
- OS: Windows 7 x64
- Motherboard: ASUS z87-Deluxe
- PSU: CoolerMaster v850
- NEVER Overclocked
Code:

What I've tried ~
- Completely uninstalling all Nvidia drivers then reinstalling to the newest version
- Windows is up to date
Is there anything I can do on my end that will fix it?

Solution
My friend has this problem with his EVGA GTX 970's but only in FFXIV (every other game he has played is fine) he ended up underclocking both the core and mem (sorry don't know the amount), otherwise he gets a black screen but audio still works.
What happens in other games? Any graphical glitches occuring, even in 2D? 3Dmark and other benchmark loops run ok? I have 2 970s(ran in SLI), and both never had this happen, so not sure what you read. Both bought at 970 launch. One is in use today as a daily driver and occasional gaming.

Hi,

I would check the cpu / gpu temperatures (hwmonitor / msi afterburner) to rule out overheating

Also could be a weak psu. You would need to test out with known working psu. Your psu should be fine but if it is 3-4 year or older, it might be getting tired

If you cpu overheat, reapply thermal paste. If stock cooler, you might want to buy a evo 212 or something similar to help with heat.
If gpu overheats, need to reapply or see if you can make fan go faster.

Like i said. "I'm monitoring my temps and they seem to be normal I don't think its a temperature problem. "

Mine only crashes on high performance games. I never overclocked my pc tho

Neither did he, the cards were pre-OCed from the factory

Won't this hinder my performance?
