hello i have a very strange problem, i bought an msi gtx 970 and switched it with my old HD6850
my PSU is antec 520 watts ,my board is gygabite p67a, when i plug the new card in, my screen is black and my bios is stuck for smoothing like 5 min, the Obvious answer is defected card' but i think maybe its my motherboard or my PSU?

i tried to unplug everything except the main drive and one memory stick and still it dosent boot
it takes time, but when it is boot up it got full power, and i have no issues

any ideas how to troubleshoot the problem?

my next move is to try a different pc

Well, the Antec 520 is below recommended specs for a GTX 970 which calls for 550w, but that 520 shouldn't cause boot issues. It might be underpowered for gaming though. Try going into the BIOS and resetting to default or optimal settings and retry. You might also have to change the legacy or UEFI (AHCI) modes depending on the card. It could also be that your PSU is just old and tired.

It could be you have a legacy board as well that takes some time to detect a UEFI compliant card. Make sure your PCI power cables to the card are ALL connected and fully seated. Double check the card itself to make sure it's COMPLETELY seated. Even remove and reinstall it.

If you're using a power strip to power the computer, don't. Plug the computer directly into the wall or a 14 gauge or thicker extension cord. Preferably directly into the wall. If that's not possible, try a different power strip. Power strips are a bad idea as 98% of them are poorly constructed.

Make sure you have the very latest drivers for your card installed from the Nvidia website.
