So, my 970s fans only work when I have the Afterburner software open. As soon as I close it the fans stop spinning. I have 'apply overclocking at startup' checked. Anyone know whats going on? I'm also having problems controlling my fans for my CPU and case. I have a Phanteks Enthoo luxe and an ASUS p8z77-v LK.

what model of 970 do you have, the asus strix dosnt spin up at all until its under load, i believe the g1 gaming windforce is the same. as for controlling your CPU fan make sure its connected to your CPU fan header, as for your case fans you may be having trouble controlling them because they may not be 4 pin PWMs, most case fans are powered by molex.

you probably have the gtx 970 from MSI.
it's completely normal. the fans only start spinning at 55 degrees celcius.
If they start spinning with the afterburner software it is because you can change the fan behaviour with a graph.
also, for the allow overclocik on startup to work, afterburner needs to start at startup aswell.

about controlling your case fans, no clue, what are you trying to controll it with?

I made a custom fan graph with afterburner so that they do spin up. But they don't spin when I close the software, which they used to.

MSI GTX 970 Gaming

- Base core clock of 1051mhz w/boost 1178mhz (silent mode) / 1114mhz w/boost 1253mhz (gaming mode) / 1140mhz w/boost 1279mhz (OC mode); these selections apply to MSI's gaming app, otherwise the default core clock is 1114mhz w/boost 1253mhz
- Memory clock of 1753mhz (7010mhz effective); Samsung IC's
- 6 Phase power delivery
- 2 x DVI port, 1 x HDMI 2.0, 1 x DP v1.2
- Dual fan HSF design featuring idle fan shutoff (when under 60c); the overall height of the cooling solution is slightly less than two slots to provide better cooling for sli configurations.
- *1 x 6pin ATX power connector and 1 x 8 pin ATX power connector; combined max rated draw of 300w (75w pcie, 75w 6pin, 150w 8pin).
- Overall length of ~27cm (269mm)

I'm trying to control them with AI suite Fan Xpert+. I have my fans plugged into my Enthoo Luxe's fan controller which is plugged into my CPU_FAN slot. My cpu fan is plugged into the fan controller.

it will only work with MSI afterburner running.
as the fan graph is controlled by that software, so the fans are dependent on it

well if you have a fancontroller then you need to controll the fanss with the controller.

you can only use the asus software if the fans are actually connected on the motherboard.

The fans are connected to the motherboard because the fan controller is connected to CPU_FAN.

did you set up a graph in the CPU fan or the case fan section?
and how does yuor fanconroller work?

it gets the behaviour from the CPU fan connector and coppy's that signal to all the fans connected to the controller or?
I'm a bit lost here!

I'm also lost. The fan controller is preinstalled on my phanteks enthoo luxe and there's not much info on it. I tested the CPU Fan speeds on AI Suite and it gives me this. The top RPM isn't anywhere near the top rpm for an h100i. The chassis fan tests just give me 0 rpm no matter what %.

well you have more then 1 fan header on your motherboard.
plug the fans from your h100i on the CPU fan header and check again.
usualy a fancontroller is something you can controll physicly.

just connect everything on the fan headers on your motherboard and see if it works.

after that conect that controller to a casefan header.

According to the fan controller on the manual for my case it has to be connected to the CPU_FAN. But I do have enough slots for all my fans on the motherboard. Is there any point to this 'controller' then?
