Hello Almighty Tom's Hardware Forum
I type this in room surrounded by PC parts as I build my first PC for 7 years
However I have a very simple (for some) question regarding the Gigabyte GTX 970 G1.
The card requires a 6 & a 8 pin power supply, however my EVGA supernova G2 (Thanks for the PSU list) only has 6+2 cables.
Now I've looked on PCpartpicker at builds using my power supply and graphics card. Although it's sometimes hard to make out, it looks like most people are connecting up the 8 pin with the 6+2 ... obviously, then connecting the 6 pin by leaving the +2 section disconnected and dangling free.
Is this correct or am I just about to make an very expensive toaster?
TLDR: Can I connect my 6+2 PSU cable to a 6 pin graphic card port, simply leaving the extra +2 disconnected?
Huge thanks TH Forum
