Hello guys i just got my paycheck yesterday and i have enough to buy my first graphics card so i can finally see what my PC is capable of. At first i was going to buy a GTX 960 because my friend recommended but after i did some research, people told me to stay away from it and to buy a future proof card. So i started to look at the 980's cards and i told my self i cant afford that hefty $500+ price tag. Then i looked in the middle and found the 970. I watched a few videos about it and i told my self "That card is not bad its only $350" plus i saw that VR recommended specs needs to be an i5 4590 and a GTX 970 and i might get into VR soon. I built my PC 2 months ago but i was only using the integrated graphics built into my i5 4590. Then on Friday morning i got an email from newegg telling me that my 970 is on a sale, plus my newegg orders always arrive to my house the next day i make the purchase. But right when i was going to buy the 970, i saw that AMD released a new GPU called the R9 390. It cost nearly the same as the Gigabyte G1 970 but it has 4GB more into the vram and yes i know that the 970's only have 3.5 GB of vram and slow 512mb ? But i also heard that AMD cards are optimized for a few games, 390 has shutdown problems, requires 275w of power, and is using a 2012 architecture or older ? I don't know alot about PC components, im a console gamer but i wasn't satisfied with the whole "Next-Gen consoles" I mainly want to play games in 1080p at 60fps or more. Thanks also my PC specs are below

CPU: Intel i5 4590
Motherboard: ASrock H97M Pro4
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 8GB
HDD: Western Digital 1TB Blue
Case: NZXT Phantom 410
PSU: XFX XTR 550w 80 plus Gold

At 1080P you really can not beat the 970, while the 290 has more ram at your resolution that will hardly if ever come into play. If you like AMD the 290 is basicly a cheaper 4 GB version of the 390 and they go for 250.

Alternately there is a good deal on the 280x but Im afraid it is not fully dx12 complaint. Your psu will support any of these cards but I must advocate for the gtx 970. It's fast as you could ever need for 1080P resolution with the highest settings.

The G1 you have listed is currently selling for 299 on newegg grab it and forget the rest.
